English Worship 9.25

“We gather each week for Christian worship and fellowship, following a historic tradition that unites people of diverse backgrounds by the sharing of the Good News of Jesus Christ.”

We are glad you are here, from wherever you are – rejoicing in the hope of our Savior Jesus!

Below, please find our Sermon audio, bible readings and some songs. Set some time aside today if you are able, either alone or with some friends or family, and enter into an intentional time of worship with our God. May He bless you today and may you know that Jesus is always with you! 🙂

 “Would You Be Persuaded
if Someone Came Back to Life?”

Is the Word of God really enough? Do you believe Jesus is what he says he is? In worship we are challenged to do the impossible: listen to the words and receive life!

 Bible Readings

Amos 6:1-7

【Amos 6:1】Woe to you who are complacent in Zion, and to you who feel secure on Mount Samaria, you notable men of the foremost nation, to whom the people of Israel come!

【Amos 6:2】Go to Kalneh and look at it; go from there to great Hamath, and then go down to Gath in Philistia. Are they better off than your two kingdoms? Is their land larger than yours?

【Amos 6:3】You put off the day of disaster and bring near a reign of terror.

【Amos 6:4】You lie on beds adorned with ivory and lounge on your couches. You dine on choice lambs and fattened calves.

【Amos 6:5】You strum away on your harps like David and improvise on musical instruments.

【Amos 6:6】You drink wine by the bowlful and use the finest lotions, but you do not grieve over the ruin of Joseph.

【Amos 6:7】Therefore you will be among the first to go into exile; your feasting and lounging will end.

1 Timothy 3:1-13

【1 Timothy 3:1】Here is a trustworthy saying: Whoever aspires to be an overseer desires a noble task.

【1 Timothy 3:2】Now the overseer is to be above reproach, faithful to his wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach,

【1 Timothy 3:3】not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money.

【1 Timothy 3:4】He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him, and he must do so in a manner worthy of full [ Or him with proper ] respect.

【1 Timothy 3:5】(If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God’s church?)

【1 Timothy 3:6】He must not be a recent convert, or he may become conceited and fall under the same judgment as the devil.

【1 Timothy 3:7】He must also have a good reputation with outsiders, so that he will not fall into disgrace and into the devil’s trap.

【1 Timothy 3:8】In the same way, deacons [ The word deacons refers here to Christians designated to serve with the overseers/elders of the church in a variety of ways; similarly in verse 12; and in Romans 16:1 and Phil. 1:1. ] are to be worthy of respect, sincere, not indulging in much wine, and not pursuing dishonest gain.

【1 Timothy 3:9】They must keep hold of the deep truths of the faith with a clear conscience.

【1 Timothy 3:10】They must first be tested; and then if there is nothing against them, let them serve as deacons.

【1 Timothy 3:11】In the same way, the women [ Possibly deacons’ wives or women who are deacons ] are to be worthy of respect, not malicious talkers but temperate and trustworthy in everything.

【1 Timothy 3:12】A deacon must be faithful to his wife and must manage his children and his household well.

【1 Timothy 3:13】Those who have served well gain an excellent standing and great assurance in their faith in Christ Jesus.

Luke 16:19-31

【Luke 16:19】“There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day.

【Luke 16:20】At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores

【Luke 16:21】and longing to eat what fell from the rich man’s table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores.

【Luke 16:22】“The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried.

【Luke 16:23】In Hades, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side.

【Luke 16:24】So he called to him, ‘Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.’

【Luke 16:25】“But Abraham replied, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony.

【Luke 16:26】And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been set in place, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.’

【Luke 16:27】“He answered, ‘Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my family,

【Luke 16:28】for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.’

【Luke 16:29】“Abraham replied, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let them listen to them.’

【Luke 16:30】“‘No, father Abraham,’ he said, ‘but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.’

【Luke 16:31】“He said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.’”

Spend some time in prayer with our Heavenly Father. He asks us to pray, to talk with Him. Like a father and his child. Bring to Him your problems and your difficult situations. Bring to Him your hopes and desires. Praise Him and give Him thanks for all He’s done.

Share your life with Him,

because He loves you.

Go in peace and serve the Lord!

  1. Thank you for the sermon, absolutely spot on for my current situation (as it always seems to go). I look forward to attending a service in person as soon as I’m back in Shenzhen (hopefully this week or the next)
