English Worship 7.31

“We gather each week for Christian worship and fellowship, following a historic tradition that unites people of diverse backgrounds by the sharing of the Good News of Jesus Christ.”

We are glad you are here, from wherever you are – rejoicing in the hope of our Savior Jesus!

Below, please find our Sermon audio, bible readings and some songs. Set some time aside today if you are able, either alone or with some friends or family, and enter into an intentional time of worship with our God. May He bless you today and may you know that Jesus is always with you! 🙂

 “Saving for the Future”

Do you have all the things you need to be comfortable in life? Do you wish you had more?  Today in worship we hear Jesus warn us that life is not about the money or possessions we have.  Instead, God blesses us richly with things so that we can use them to bless others.  In generosity and seeking the things that are above, we can see that it is Christ who is our life.

Bible Readings

Ecclesiastes 1:2, 12-13; 2:18-26

【Ecc 1:2】“Meaningless! Meaningless!” says the Teacher. “Utterly meaningless! Everything is meaningless.”

【Ecc 1:12】I, the Teacher, was king over Israel in Jerusalem.

【Ecc 1:13】I applied my mind to study and to explore by wisdom all that is done under the heavens. What a heavy burden God has laid on mankind!

【Ecc 2:18】I hated all the things I had toiled for under the sun, because I must leave them to the one who comes after me.

【Ecc 2:19】And who knows whether that person will be wise or foolish? Yet they will have control over all the fruit of my toil into which I have poured my effort and skill under the sun. This too is meaningless.

【Ecc 2:20】So my heart began to despair over all my toilsome labor under the sun.

【Ecc 2:21】For a person may labor with wisdom, knowledge and skill, and then they must leave all they own to another who has not toiled for it. This too is meaningless and a great misfortune.

【Ecc 2:22】What do people get for all the toil and anxious striving with which they labor under the sun?

【Ecc 2:23】All their days their work is grief and pain; even at night their minds do not rest. This too is meaningless.

【Ecc 2:24】A person can do nothing better than to eat and drink and find satisfaction in their own toil. This too, I see, is from the hand of God,

【Ecc 2:25】for without him, who can eat or find enjoyment?

【Ecc 2:26】To the person who pleases him, God gives wisdom, knowledge and happiness, but to the sinner he gives the task of gathering and storing up wealth to hand it over to the one who pleases God. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.

Colossians 3:1-11

【Col 3:1】Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.

【Col 3:2】Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.

【Col 3:3】For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.

【Col 3:4】When Christ, who is your [ Some manuscripts our ] life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

【Col 3:5】Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry.

【Col 3:6】Because of these, the wrath of God is coming. [ Some early manuscripts coming on those who are disobedient ]

【Col 3:7】You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived.

【Col 3:8】But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips.

【Col 3:9】Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices

【Col 3:10】and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.

【Col 3:11】Here there is no Gentile or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all.

Luke 12:13-21

【Luk 12:13】Someone in the crowd said to him, “Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me.”

【Luk 12:14】Jesus replied, “Man, who appointed me a judge or an arbiter between you?”

【Luk 12:15】Then he said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.”

【Luk 12:16】And he told them this parable: “The ground of a certain rich man yielded an abundant harvest.

【Luk 12:17】He thought to himself, ‘What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.’

【Luk 12:18】“Then he said, ‘This is what I’ll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store my surplus grain.

【Luk 12:19】And I’ll say to myself, “You have plenty of grain laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.”’

【Luk 12:20】“But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’

【Luk 12:21】“This is how it will be with whoever stores up things for themselves but is not rich toward God.”

Spend some time in prayer with our Heavenly Father. He asks us to pray, to talk with Him. Like a father and his child. Bring to Him your problems and your difficult situations. Bring to Him your hopes and desires. Praise Him and give Him thanks for all He’s done.

Share your life with Him,

because He loves you.

Go in peace and serve the Lord!
