English Worship 6.26

“We gather each week for Christian worship and fellowship, following a historic tradition that unites people of diverse backgrounds by the sharing of the Good News of Jesus Christ.”

We are glad you are here, from wherever you are – rejoicing in the hope of our Savior Jesus!

Below, please find our Sermon audio, bible readings and some songs. Set some time aside today if you are able, either alone or with some friends or family, and enter into an intentional time of worship with our God. May He bless you today and may you know that Jesus is always with you! 🙂

“If We Live By Our Spiritual Nature…”

How do you respond when Jesus asks everything of you?  Would you give up all because of what he promises to give you?  Today in worship we hear people give excuses for things they think more important than Jesus.  Yet Jesus himself gives up everything for you!

 Bible Readings

1 Kings 19:9b-21

【1ki 19:9】[ The Lord Appears to Elijah ] And the word of the Lord came to him: “What are you doing here, Elijah?”

【1ki 19:10】He replied, “I have been very zealous for the Lord God Almighty. The Israelites have rejected your covenant, torn down your altars, and put your prophets to death with the sword. I am the only one left, and now they are trying to kill me too.”

【1ki 19:11】The Lord said, “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by.” Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake.

【1ki 19:12】After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper.

【1ki 19:13】When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave. Then a voice said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”

【1ki 19:14】He replied, “I have been very zealous for the Lord God Almighty. The Israelites have rejected your covenant, torn down your altars, and put your prophets to death with the sword. I am the only one left, and now they are trying to kill me too.”

【1ki 19:15】The Lord said to him, “Go back the way you came, and go to the Desert of Damascus. When you get there, anoint Hazael king over Aram.

【1ki 19:16】Also, anoint Jehu son of Nimshi king over Israel, and anoint Elisha son of Shaphat from Abel Meholah to succeed you as prophet.

【1ki 19:17】Jehu will put to death any who escape the sword of Hazael, and Elisha will put to death any who escape the sword of Jehu.

【1ki 19:18】Yet I reserve seven thousand in Israel—all whose knees have not bowed down to Baal and whose mouths have not kissed him.”

【1ki 19:19】So Elijah went from there and found Elisha son of Shaphat. He was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen, and he himself was driving the twelfth pair. Elijah went up to him and threw his cloak around him.

【1ki 19:20】Elisha then left his oxen and ran after Elijah. “Let me kiss my father and mother goodbye,” he said, “and then I will come with you.” “Go back,” Elijah replied. “What have I done to you?”

【1ki 19:21】So Elisha left him and went back. He took his yoke of oxen and slaughtered them. He burned the plowing equipment to cook the meat and gave it to the people, and they ate. Then he set out to follow Elijah and became his servant.

Galatians 5:13-25

【Gal 5:13】You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh [ In contexts like this, the Greek word for flesh (sarx) refers to the sinful state of human beings, often presented as a power in opposition to the Spirit; also in verses 16, 17, 19 and 24; and in 6:8. ] ; rather, serve one another humbly in love.

【Gal 5:14】For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” [ Lev. 19:18 ]

【Gal 5:15】If you bite and devour each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other.

【Gal 5:16】So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.

【Gal 5:17】For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever [ Or you do not do what ] you want.

【Gal 5:18】But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

【Gal 5:19】The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery;

【Gal 5:20】idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions

【Gal 5:21】and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

【Gal 5:22】But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

【Gal 5:23】gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

【Gal 5:24】Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

【Gal 5:25】Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.

【Gal 5:26】Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.

Luke 9:51-62

【Luk 9:51】As the time approached for him to be taken up to heaven, Jesus resolutely set out for Jerusalem.

【Luk 9:52】And he sent messengers on ahead, who went into a Samaritan village to get things ready for him;

【Luk 9:53】but the people there did not welcome him, because he was heading for Jerusalem.

【Luk 9:54】When the disciples James and John saw this, they asked, “Lord, do you want us to call fire down from heaven to destroy them [ Some manuscripts them, just as Elijah did ] ?”

【Luk 9:55】But Jesus turned and rebuked them.

【Luk 9:56】Then he and his disciples went to another village.

【Luk 9:57】As they were walking along the road, a man said to him, “I will follow you wherever you go.”

【Luk 9:58】Jesus replied, “Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.”

【Luk 9:59】He said to another man, “Follow me.” But he replied, “Lord, first let me go and bury my father.”

【Luk 9:60】Jesus said to him, “Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and proclaim the kingdom of God.”

【Luk 9:61】Still another said, “I will follow you, Lord; but first let me go back and say goodbye to my family.”

【Luk 9:62】Jesus replied, “No one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God.”

Spend some time in prayer with our Heavenly Father. He asks us to pray, to talk with Him. Like a father and his child. Bring to Him your problems and your difficult situations. Bring to Him your hopes and desires. Praise Him and give Him thanks for all He’s done.

Share your life with Him,

because He loves you.

Go in peace and serve the Lord!
