ONLINE ONLY – English Worship 8.29

In-person gatherings have been temporarily suspended due the epidemic prevention and control. We will be sure to share an announcement with you here on the official account when our in-person gatherings will be able to resume.

Welcome to the season of Pentecost! This is the time where we remember when the Holy Spirit came down on the disciples with a rushing wind and what appeared as tongues of fire. His Spirit moved then and empowered them as His church to share His Gospel all across the world, and it continues to move within us as His church and empower us today.

We are glad you are here, from wherever you are – rejoicing in the hope of our Savior Jesus!

Below, please find our theme for the week, our bible readings, some songs, and a video-recorded sermon. Set some time aside today if you are able, either alone or with some friends or family, and enter into an intentional time of worship with our God. May He bless you today and may you know that Jesus is always with you! 🙂

“What is Living Inside of You?”

Out of a person’s heart can come the most evil things. This is why Jesus says that it is what comes out of a person that ruins them, not what goes into them. And yet, as we consume the Word of God, His Spirit changes us from the inside out. It is not about what we do or what has been done to us, but it is about what, or who, is currently at work inside of us.

Bible Readings

Deuteronomy 4:1-2, 6-9

1Now, Israel, hear the decrees and laws I am about to teach you. Follow them so that you may live and may go in and take possession of the land the LORD, the God of your ancestors, is giving you. 2Do not add to what I command you and do not subtract from it, but keep the commands of the LORD your God that I give you.

6Observe them carefully, for this will show your wisdom and understanding to the nations, who will hear about all these decrees and say, “Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.” 7What other nation is so great as to have their gods near them the way the LORD our God is near us whenever we pray to him? 8And what other nation is so great as to have such righteous decrees and laws as this body of laws I am setting before you today? 9Only be careful, and watch yourselves closely so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them fade from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and to their children after them.

Mark 7:14-23

14Again Jesus called the crowd to him and said, “Listen to me, everyone, and understand this. 15Nothing outside a person can defile them by going into them. Rather, it is what comes out of a person that defiles them.” 16 17After he had left the crowd and entered the house, his disciples asked him about this parable. 18″Are you so dull?” he asked. “Don’t you see that nothing that enters a person from the outside can defile them? 19For it doesn’t go into their heart but into their stomach, and then out of the body.” (In saying this, Jesus declared all foods clean.) 20He went on: “What comes out of a person is what defiles them. 21For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come-sexual immorality, theft, murder, 22adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. 23All these evils come from inside and defile a person.”

Questions and Notes from the message today:
  1. What is living inside of you?   What is the darkness / uncleanness inside of you?
  2. In what ways are you focusing on the right actions, but forgetting about the purpose (the heart) behind it?
  3. When was the last time you came before God and cried out to him? When was the last time you asked him to see all that was wrong inside of you, and to make you new again?

As we look at what is living inside of us, as we contemplate the darkness, as we recognize the ways in which we simply focus on right actions, to please others, to please God, but we do not focus on the heart of it all…

Take heart in the work of Jesus for you.

We continue to walk in this world and live our lives. We continue to struggle with issues of the heart.

Yet day by day we are renewed in Christ.

The old is gone. The new has come.

We are cleansed and we are washed, and surrounded with joy and gladness again and again.

Prayer

Spend some time in prayer with our Heavenly Father. He asks us to pray, to talk with Him. Like a father and his child. Bring to Him your problems and your difficult situations. Bring to him your hopes and desires. Praise him and give him thanks for all He’s done. Share your life with him, because He loves you.

Go in peace and serve the Lord!
