ONLINE ONLY – English Worship 8.8

In-person gatherings have been temporarily suspended due the epidemic prevention and control. We will be sure to share an announcement with you here on the official account when our in-person gatherings will be able to resume.

Welcome to the season of Pentecost! This is the time where we remember when the Holy Spirit came down on the disciples with a rushing wind and what appeared as tongues of fire. His Spirit moved then and empowered them as His church to share His Gospel all across the world, and it continues to move within us as His church and empower us today.

We are glad you are here, from wherever you are – rejoicing in the hope of our Savior Jesus!

Below, please find our theme for the week, our bible readings, some songs, and a video-recorded sermon. Set some time aside today if you are able, either alone or with some friends or family, and enter into an intentional time of worship with our God. May He bless you today and may you know that Jesus is always with you! 🙂

You Have the Words of Eternal Life (John 6:68)

The events of the past 2 years have reminded us that there are many things in this world beyond our control.  It is even difficult to believe that God is in control!  In worship today, we are faced with trusting Jesus and his presence especially when life is hard.  Jesus has the words of eternal life!

Bible Readings

1 Kings 19:1-8

1Now Ahab told Jezebel everything Elijah had done and how he had killed all the prophets with the sword. 2So Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah to say, “May the gods deal with me, be it ever so severely, if by this time tomorrow I do not make your life like that of one of them.”

3Elijah was afraid and ran for his life. When he came to Beersheba in Judah, he left his servant there, 4while he himself went a day’s journey into the desert. He came to a broom tree, sat down under it and prayed that he might die. “I have had enough, LORD,” he said. “Take my life; I am no better than my ancestors.” 5Then he lay down under the tree and fell asleep.

All at once an angel touched him and said, “Get up and eat.” 6He looked around, and there by his head was a cake of bread baked over hot coals, and a jar of water. He ate and drank and then lay down again.

7The angel of the LORD came back a second time and touched him and said, “Get up and eat, for the journey is too much for you.” 8So he got up and ate and drank. Strengthened by that food, he traveled forty days and forty nights until he reached Horeb, the mountain of God.

John 6:35-51

35Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty. 36But as I told you, you have seen me and still you do not believe. 37All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away. 38For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me. 39And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all that he has given me, but raise them up at the last day. 40For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.”

41At this the Jews began to grumble about him because he said, “I am the bread that came down from heaven.” 42They said, “Is this not Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How can he now say, ‘I came down from heaven’?”

43″Stop grumbling among yourselves,” Jesus answered. 44″No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up at the last day. 45It is written in the Prophets: ‘They will all be taught by God.’ Everyone who listens to the Father and learns from him comes to me. 46No one has seen the Father except the one who is from God; only he has seen the Father. 47I tell you the truth, he who believes has everlasting life. 48I am the bread of life. 49Your forefathers ate the manna in the desert, yet they died. 50But here is the bread that comes down from heaven, which a man may eat and not die.

51I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.”

Prayer

Spend some time in prayer with our Heavenly Father. He asks us to pray, to talk with Him. Like a father and his child. Bring to Him your problems and your difficult situations. Bring to him your hopes and desires. Praise him and give him thanks for all He’s done. Share your life with him, because He loves you.

Go in peace and serve the Lord!
