English Worship 7.25

Welcome to the season of Pentecost! This is the time where we remember when the Holy Spirit came down on the disciples with a rushing wind and what appeared as tongues of fire. His Spirit moved then and empowered them as His church to share His Gospel all across the world, and it continues to move within us as His church and empower us today.

We are glad you are here, from wherever you are – rejoicing in the hope of our Savior Jesus!

Below, please find our theme for the week, our bible readings, some songs, and a video-recorded sermon. Set some time aside today if you are able, either alone or with some friends or family, and enter into an intentional time of worship with our God. May He bless you today and may you know that Jesus is always with you! 🙂

“Walking through the Waves” (Mark 6:48)

Do you ever struggle in the face of adversity you can’t overcome? The disciples were struggling with all their might to sail forward and fight against the strong winds, but were having very little success. After Jesus finished praying, He walked to them on the water. They cried out in terror when they saw Him, but our loving Jesus calmed their fears as well as the wind. Jesus is still calming troubled hearts and has invited us to join Him in sharing the Good News of salvation. May we witness to the life-changing power of Jesus with joy and enthusiasm!

Bible Readings

Genesis 9:8-17

Then God said to Noah and to his sons with him: “I now establish my covenant with you and with your descendants after you 10 and with every living creature that was with you—the birds, the livestock and all the wild animals, all those that came out of the ark with you—every living creature on earth. 11 I establish my covenant with you: Never again will all life be destroyed by the waters of a flood; never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth.”

12 And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come:13 I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. 14 Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, 15 I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life. 16 Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.”

17 So God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant I have established between me and all life on the earth.”

Mark 6:45-56

45 Immediately Jesus made his disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to Bethsaida, while he dismissed the crowd. 46 After leaving them, he went up on a mountainside to pray.

47 Later that night, the boat was in the middle of the lake, and he was alone on land. 48 He saw the disciples straining at the oars, because the wind was against them. Shortly before dawn he went out to them, walking on the lake. He was about to pass by them, 49 but when they saw him walking on the lake, they thought he was a ghost. They cried out, 50 because they all saw him and were terrified.

Immediately he spoke to them and said, “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”51 Then he climbed into the boat with them, and the wind died down. They were completely amazed, 52 for they had not understood about the loaves; their hearts were hardened.

53 When they had crossed over, they landed at Gennesaret and anchored there.54 As soon as they got out of the boat, people recognized Jesus. 55 They ran throughout that whole region and carried the sick on mats to wherever they heard he was. 56 And wherever he went—into villages, towns or countryside—they placed the sick in the marketplaces. They begged him to let them touch even the edge of his cloak, and all who touched it were healed.

Prayer

Spend some time in prayer with our Heavenly Father. He asks us to pray, to talk with Him. Like a father and his child. Bring to Him your problems and your difficult situations. Bring to him your hopes and desires. Praise him and give him thanks for all He’s done. Share your life with him, because He loves you.

Go in peace and serve the Lord!
